The 75-bed Chatham Waters care home is being delivered in partnership by specialist healthcare developer Montpelier Estates, Apex Contractors and waterside regeneration specialist Peel Waters, which is behind the wider Chatham Waters masterplan.

The start on site follows on from a series of recent construction milestones at Chatham Waters including the completion of 237-apartments available for shared ownership and affordable rent, and the completion of a new linear park connecting the waterside district up to the River Medway.

The purpose-built, four-storey care home sits in the centre of Chatham Waters and will have on-site facilities to encourage socialising and community building within a safe space for later living. Facilities will include a dementia-friendly bistro caf茅, hair salon, cinema and sensory rooftop garden.

The estimated build time of the Chatham Waters care home will be approximately 18-months, with completion expected by autumn 2026.

Waterfront University Technical College (UTC) has more than 300 students studying engineering and construction on site at Chatham Waters, offering a pipeline of new workers. Bexley-based Apex is offering one lucky UTC student a T-Level placement during the build of the care home.

More than 拢150m has already been invested into Chatham Waters by Peel as part of its regeneration of the old dockyards. Improved infrastructure, a supermarket, a pub/restaurant and the Waterfront UTC have all been put in, in addition to more than 600 mixed-tenure homes.
