The four-year framework for building schools and colleges in England is expected to be worth £4bn in total. It is once again to be divided into two regional lots, north and south, with each worth £2bn.
The EFA, on behalf of the Department for Education, plans to have a panel of nine contractors for each region. This is a reduction from the current contractors’ framework that was launched in November 2009, which has 12 contractors listed for each region. Some of these now face the prospect of disappointment.
Contractors have until 29 May to submit their requests to participate. Invitations to tend will be sent out in mid July.
