The 拢13m academy will be built alongside a new set design building at the Royal Opera House Production Park in Thurrock, Essex.
When completed next year, the academy will train both youngsters and adults to meet an anticipated need for 30,000 skilled backstage and technical theatre staff by 2017.
Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Agency chairman Will McKee, said: 鈥淭he Park will be a catalyst for growth of the creative industries in the area and will not only put Thurrock on the cultural map, but also raise the aspirations of the localcommunity by providing job opportunities, training and education.鈥�
