Hertshten Properties has appointed Mace Construct a main contractor for a 30-storey tower at 85 Gracechurch Street, London EC3.
Architect Woods Bagot has designed a 235,000 sq ft office building to replace a 1930s block within the Leadenhall conservation area. It is targeting BREEAM Outstanding rating upon completion, powered solely by electricity with energy efficient mechanical systems, natural ventilation and urban greening.
The site鈥檚 archaeological heritage has impacted the design and triggered planning revisions. Excavations revealed substantial remains of London鈥檚 first Roman Basilica. These will be displayed in situ to create a visitor attraction, curated by the Museum of London.
Following Mace鈥檚 successful tender, it has now entered pre-construction services agreement (PCSA) phase. Completion is scheduled for 2030.
Mace Construct managing director Ged Simmonds said: 鈥淏uilding on our track record constructing market-leading commercial developments in London, 85 Gracechurch Street offers a unique opportunity to deliver a sustainable and forward-thinking office. Our focus now is on working closely with Hertshten Properties and the wider project team to deliver a building that responds to its historic context while meeting the needs of a modern, evolving city and its future occupiers.鈥

Hertshten Properties UK chief executive Ron Hertshten said: 鈥85 Gracechurch will be a state-of-the-art office building, delivering approximately 235,000 square feet of premium office space alongside a host of extraordinary amenities.
