Bournemouth Borough Council has contracted Wates for a new building at St Peter’s School in Southbourne.
The new development will be constructed on the school’s existing sports field and will house 16 classrooms, art studios, science labs, a dining hall and kitchen, main hall, changing facilities and staff offices.
Wates’ contract also includes delivery of four multi use games area (MUGA) pitches, associated landscaping and a staff car park.
Designed by architects, Cube Design, the new St Peter’s School is expected to be completed in late autumn 2016 and will accommodate 480 secondary school pupils. A subsequent phase will include the refurbishment of the old site, which is expected to be completed during the 2017 summer break. When refurbished, this will accommodate 420 primary school pupils.
The project was procured by Bournemouth Borough Council through the former 91ºÚÁÏÍø Framework South West, which has since become the newly formed Southern 91ºÚÁÏÍø Framework.
