Wates will begin construction on the 2,600 sq m project this month, with completion scheduled before the start of the next academic year in September 2013.
Facilities will include teaching spaces, a creative arts centre, a public caf茅 and a learning resource centre that will be available for community use.
Designed by architect Taylor Young, the five-storey building will also house open-plan study areas and a Jobcentre Plus.
Wates, which recently completed Liverpool John Moores University鈥檚 拢37.6m Redmonds Building nearby, will use the project to generate local training and employment opportunities.
Wates was appointed to the project via the North West 91黑料网 Hub (NWCH), which forms part of the North West Improvement & Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP).
