The 拢45m building, part of Blackpool Council鈥檚 拢350m Talbot Gateway redevelopment scheme, will hold up to 1,100 civil servants from Defence Business Services (DBS) which handles all the IT, finance, procurement and HR functions for the MoD.

The move consolidates the DBS Northwest Estate into one purpose-built office owned by the MoD.

The project is being delivered under the MoD鈥檚 Defence Estate Optimisation portfolio which is investing 拢5.1bn in developing a more sustainable and up-to-date Defence Estate.

This investment includes new and refurbished military accommodation for more than 40,000 service personnel and their families as well as technical, training and office space for more than 64,000 personnel.

The Blackpool development is being managed on behalf of the MoD by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation in partnership with Blackpool Council, development partner Muse Places and main contractor Vinci Building.

Defence Infrastructure Organisation programme manager, Ross Porter said: 鈥淎fter several years of pre-construction work and a huge collaborative effort from all parties involved, progressing this project to the construction stage is a great milestone to reach. We鈥檙e very much looking forward to delivering a first-class office facility for MoD staff in the area, as part of the Defence Estates Optimisation portfolio.鈥
