The factory will be built on the site of the former Holwell Foundry Works in Melton Mowbray with production scheduled to begin in 2027. Saint-Gobain said the new facility has the potential to deliver 250 new jobs for local people when operating at full capacity.
The new production line will initially manufacture 50,000 tonnes of stone wool insulation annually under the Isover brand. The factory will have the potential for doubling its output capacity to 100,000 tonnes a year, the company said.
The new factory will complement Saint-Gobain鈥檚 existing UK insulation production capacity at its Isover glass-wool plant in Runcorn. It will use an all-electric furnace to melt the raw material 鈥� mostly volcanic natural rock and recycled material.
91黑料网 of the factory will include restoration of natural habitats and create approximately 100 construction jobs during the first phase. The site has a manufacturing history going back to 1878 and was most recently occupied by Saint-Gobain鈥檚 PAM Holwell Foundry works.
